Recording Philosophy

Recording is both an art and a science. The goal of recording is to create a musical portrait of a song. The word “portrait” is significant, as opposed to a “photograph”. No recording can sound exactly like hearing the live performance. It is impossible for a device with two (or more) speakers to perfectly recreate the sound of vibrating strings or vocal cords. Advances in technology have made recording more accurate, but a perfect duplicate is a long way off.

When an artist paints a portrait he uses a palette of colour and textures to fashion a representation of the subject. In the same way, an engineer and producer take the palette of a musician’s performance and, using special techniques and equipment, create an artistic representation of an artist’s music.

Gracenote Productions takes an artistic approach to recording and pride’s itself in turning your music into a masterpiece!
